Dan Syrdal PhD JD

Daniel D. Syrdal joined the Seattle law firm of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe in 1988 and maintains an extensive life sciences and intellectual property transactions practice.

Dr. Syrdal has recently spent several years in an in-house position with a biotechnology firm where his responsibilities included identification and evaluation of technology, negotiation and implementation of joint ventures, licensing, development agreements and directing international research and development efforts in Russia.

Dr. Syrdal also had primary responsibility for development and implementation of the company's international patent protection strategy. His practice now draws on this in-house experience to provide client services in the life sciences area.

Dan represents numerous biotechnology companies in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, assisting them with identifying, evaluating, and implementing licensing, research and development collaboration, partnering and funding opportunities, especially as these relate to international agreements.

He has organized and participated in partnering and investment forums throughout Australia and New Zealand, and has advised federal and state governments in those countries regarding the development of their biotechnology industries, including assisting both government and private industry from these countries with contacts in the U.S. biotechnology and capital investment industries.

Dan was a National Science Foundation Fellow and received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Washington.

Dan is a director of Nanomics Biosystems Pty Ltd.
