Istvan Toth PhD

Prof Istvan Toth graduated from the Technical University, Budapest as a Medicinal Chemist and studied for his PhD degree.

This was followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. Returning to Hungary he took up positions of Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, then Scientific Group Leader at the Central Research Institute for Chemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Istvan moved to The School of Pharmacy, University of London 1986 as a Royal Society sponsored Senior Research Fellow. He became a Senior Lecturer in 1989 and later a Reader in Medicinal Organic Chemistry.

In 1994, he was awarded a DSc degree for his work on Drug Delivery. Istvan's research was well funded at the University of London by both Government and industry. Since relocating to The University of Queensland in September 1998, Prof Toth has been awarded numerous major grants (NH&MRC, ARC, Wellcome Trust, Alchemia, Cortecs, ProXima and Biotron) valued over $15 million.

Istvan has over 150 peer reviewed publications and book chapters, as well as 40 patents. Istvan is also the Editor-in Chief of Current Drug Delivery. He is a co-founder of Alchemia Ltd, recently listed on the ASX.
